Not many of us would really consider the possibility of getting fit whilst playing video games. After all, it is the video game generation which is having such a difficult time with their weight in the first place. Indeed it became a cause for concern when there were a high percentage of people just sat on the couch playing video games. The risk of many health related diseases increased due to the lack of activity and exercise combined with a bad diet. However, all of that changed a couple of years ago, when Nintendo introduced their new gaming system. The Wii is an excellent and fun way for us to stay fit if it is used properly.
The way that the games are played on Wii we can actually improve our fitness levels and as a result our health in general. Instead of just sitting back and using a joystick and a few buttons to play the game and perform the actions, a handheld controller with gyroscopic technology is now being used to mimic the actions that are on the screen. A good example of this is the tennis game that comes packaged with the Nintendo Wii. In order to play this, you need to actually swing your arm as if you were swinging a tennis racket.
More recently, a new game has been developed and introduced into the market for the Nintendo Wii. It is called as Wii fit and is becoming increasingly popular. This game is specifically designed to be able to help you to get into shape and to make physical fitness fun. It comes with a board that you stand on which regulates your balance and allows you to move on the screen in unique ways. You can also do a variety of balance games as well as getting involved in aerobics, yoga and strength training exercises that are included with the Wii fit.
In all honesty, I never imagined there would be time where you could actually become physically fit by playing video games, and I bet not many others did either. The interactive nature of the Nintendo Wii gives you the ability to be able to do so. Instead of buying an exercise bike that is just going to sit in the corner and collect dust, why not spend the money on the Nintendo and join in on the fun. It is an effortless way for you to be able to exercise and to have fun with friends and family.

I totally agree. I have played tennis on the Wii and my arms were so sore. It's definitely a fun way to keep in shape.
ReplyDeleteI've played boxing with my grandson and had no idea how hard I was working out until it was over. That's the whole idea. To take your mind off of exercising while you're having fun.
